Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults and Children: To raise awareness about your roles and responsibilities in relation to the safeguarding of vulnerable adults and children. To ensure that staff are confident how to respond and report concerns that abuse has or might have occurred. To enable all staff to understand the revised Safeguarding procedures using HC Act 2022, Care Act 2014.

Catheter Care: Continence Management. What a catheter is. Types of urinary catheterisation. Suprapubic catheter care. The closed drainage system. Changing night and day bags. Emptying a catheter bag. Catheter valves. How to solve common catheter problems. Infection Control in catheter care. Monitoring and recording in catheter care

PEG Care: Discuss the indications for placement of feeding tubes. Compare and contrast the different types of feeding tubes. Evaluate and troubleshoot common problems and complications of feeding tubes including tube dislodgement.

Data Protection and GDPR: The principles and terminology of information governance (IG). Basic data security / cyber security terminology. The importance of data security to patient/service user care. That law and national guidance requires personal information to be protected. Explain individual responsibilities when using personal information. Identify some of the most common data security risks and their impact. Identify near misses and incidents and know what to report. Distinguish between good and poor practice when using personal information. Apply good practice in the workplace.
