Basic Life Support/First Aid: What to do in an emergency, ABCDE. How to examine and assess a casualty, dealing with an unconscious casualty, the principles of CPR and practical demonstration of CPR for paediatric and adult casualty. CPR on casualty using BVM/Ambu bag. Defibrillation technique and demonstration for adult and paediatric casualty. Responding to Choking (adult, child, paediatric) Anaphylaxis, signs, symptoms and treatment. Diabetes including hyperglycemia and hypoglycemia.  Identifying sepsis, actions to diagnose and deal with sepsis and medical emergencies This course is compliant with UK Resuscitation Council 2021 Resuscitation Guidelines for BLS and paediatric BLS, prehospital resuscitation.

Dignity: To define what we mean by “dignity”. To identify the 10 dignity challenges from the DOH. To identify the role of dignity champions. To be clear about the role of dignity champions and safeguarding work. To raise awareness of dignity.

Safe Handling of Medication: Legislation applicable.  Self-Medicating. Policies and Procedures. Dispensing, Administering. Levels of Administration. Routes of Administration. Safe administration of topical treatments, Invasive Techniques and role of Care Staff. Medication Storage and Disposal. Abbreviations. MAR Charts, Digital Recording. Confidentiality, GDPR. Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults and Children: To raise awareness about your roles and responsibilities in relation to the safeguarding of vulnerable adults and children. To ensure that staff are confident how to respond and report concerns that abuse has or might have occurred. To enable all staff to understand the revised Safeguarding procedures using HC Act 2022, Care Act 2014.
